1) Mobility Impaired Hang Tag
Mobility Impaired Hang Tags (Handicapped Hang Tags) can be issued to any anyone having a Medical Examiner's Certification verifying that the applicant is Mobility Impaired or, in the case of a Disabled Veteran, a decision letter or an affidavit from the Veterans Affairs Office attesting to the Veteran's disability. Simply bring your certificate and photo I.D. and ABC Title can issue your Hangtag in just a few minutes.
2) Mobility Impaired License Plate
Mobility impaired persons who have a "Permanent Impairment" or a Veteran who has a 50% or more "Service Connected Disability" is eligible for the Mobility Impaired (handicap) License Plate. Bring in your Medical Examiner's Certification verifying "Permanent Impairment" or, in the case of a Disabled Veteran, a decision letter or an affidavit from the Veterans Affairs Office attesting to the Veteran's disability. Additionally, bring a photo I.D., proof of insurance, and your current Vehicle Registration and we can issue the plate.
3) Designation of Mobility Impaired License Plate
Did you know that the law allows for a Mobility Impaired person to designate their Mobility Impaired License Plate to a motor vehicle owned by his or her spouse, parents, legal guardian, or by a legal entity to be allowed "Special Parking Privileges" ONLY when used to transport the Mobility Impaired person. Bring in the vehicle owner with his or her Registration, Medical Examiner’s Certificate, proof of insurance and photo I.D. and ABC Title will do the rest!
Q. How long is my Handicapped Hang Tag valid?
A. If you have a "Temporary" disability, the duration is 1 (one) year. If you have a "Permanent" disability, the duration is 4 (four) years.
Q. I already provided a copy of my Medical Examiner's Certificate to the state last time for a handicapped plate or hang tag. Do I need to submit it once again?
A. You only need to re-submit the Medical Examiner's Certificate if it was a "Temporary" disability. Once the State has the certificate reflecting a permanent disability on file, there is no need to re-submit.
